VX BlueShift





The VX Blueshift is a modular, rugged, and waterproof augmented reality headset. My business partner and I designed the headset, working on different aspects. I worked on optical module mounting, modules, circuit boards, and internal parts. The headset has a USB-C port and when plugged into a computer both displays enumerate along with USB peripherals.

I came up with the modular idea after having multiple conversations with customers, wanting to design a headset to fit their needs but not wanting to spend the time or capital on a brand new headset. Most of the time the base functionality stays the same, displays need to show information, but the sensors change. What my business partner and I came up with was a functional way to quickly develop new modules with the sensors needed while not starting over each time.









Below is an example of the modular interface on the right side of the headset. The interface has full USB-PD, USB 3.0, and USB 2.0 along with I2C.
